Dobake Bakeries is a Northern California success story. It was founded in 1989 by two good friends to serve retail doughnut shop businesses, and quickly grew to a large wholesale bakery selling an expanded offering to restaurants and foodservice outlets.
By 1994, Dobake Bakeries expanded distribution to additional channels and markets. From doughnuts our product line expanded to muffins and other premium quality baked goods, including sliced loaf cakes. The business also began servicing supermarkets’ in-stores bakeries.
Dobake Bakeries’ success in the market was now well recognized, and in 2002 the business was sold to GESD Capital Partners, a leading investment group in San Francisco, whose principals have significant experience in the baking industry. Dobake Bakeries, Inc. now operates under the parent organization Gold Coast Bakeries, which also includes SoCal Bakeries and Artisan Bakers.
Today, Dobake Bakeries’ home is a 120,000 square foot facility in Oakland, California. We operate 24/7 and create a full range of bakery products from scratch formulas including: breads, brownies, muffins, pastries, and sliced loaf cakes. We also contract pack for other manufacturers and retailers. Our wholesale products are distributed nationally, and you can find us in retailers such as Lucky and Save Mart Supermarkets, and 7-Eleven. We’re also a proud supplier to California schools, serving kids K-12.
